Stephen (Steve) was born April 16, 1948, in Creston, Iowa, the son of Glen Swank and Marian (Allenspach) Swank.
He married Judy (Clough) Swank on September 10, 1966, and had two children, Daniel Lewis Swank on February 12, 1967, and Hilary Ann Swank on July 30, 1974.
He graduated from Mount Ayr High School, Class of 1967. Following graduation, he attended and graduated from Southwest Community College in Creston, Iowa, and then attended Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado.
